Elizabeth "Liz" A. Studgeon, 87, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026, in Atlantic Beach, Florida.
Born on May 1, 1939, in Corofin, County Clare, Ireland, Liz immigrated to the United States in 1958 at the age of 19. She settled in New York City, where she built a successful career as an administrator in the insurance industry. At the age of 24, she married her beloved husband, Jim Studgeon, with whom she shared more than two decades of happy marriage before his untimely passing in 1983.
Liz remained in New York until 2006, when she moved to Atlantic Beach, Florida to be near her beloved sister, Mary. Devoted, caring, and deeply family-oriented, Liz treasured her family above all else. Although she did not have children of her own, she took tremendous pride in her nieces and nephews and loved them dearly. She was a wonderful aunt who made a point of staying closely connected with those she loved, no matter how many miles separated them.
Liz will be remembered for her genuine warmth, unwavering loyalty, and generous spirit. She was friendly, loving, spiritual, and always ready to offer a welcoming smile. Her care for others extended into her community through her volunteer work with BEAM, Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry, helping support its mission to prevent hunger and homelessness throughout the Beaches area. She was also a devoted parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where she served for a time as a greeter.
Liz valued her health and especially loved walking, often covering six or seven miles each day. She took pride in her appearance and was always beautifully and tastefully coordinated. She also enjoyed shopping and had a special talent for finding a wonderful sale without ever spending foolishly.
Liz is survived by her brother, Vincent O'Donohue; her sisters-in-law; and her many loving nieces and nephews. She will also be deeply missed by her close friends and wonderful neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim Studgeon; her parents, Martin and Elizabeth O'Donohue; her brothers, Sean, Paddy, and Michael O'Donohue; her sister, Mary Diaz; her sisters-in-law, Maureen and Mary O'Donohue; and her brother-in-law, Neftali Diaz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2400 Mayport Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32233.
Liz's life was grounded in faith, family, and love. Her warmth, devotion, and steadfast presence will remain forever in the hearts of the many people who were blessed to know and love her.
