Richard L. Ouellette: A Life of Love

Richard L. Ouellette was born and raised in Waterville Maine. He passed away, as he hoped, peacefully in his home in Atlantic Beach surrounded by loved ones on February 1, 2021. He is
preceded in death by his first love, Claudette Ann Poulin Ouellette, his parents, and brother Ronald.

Richard leaves behind his second love and life partner, Elizabeth Neville, 4 daughters, Anne Satterwhite, Angele O’Reilly, Julie Bussey, Jeanne Ouellette, his two sisters Janet Oldenburg
and Claudette Poulin, and a glorious multitude of adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Richard served in the United States Marines Corps. He and Claudette moved their family to Atlantic Beach in 1968 while he was a civil servant of the United States Navy. He was a devout
Catholic and active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church since its beginnings. He had a lifelong commitment to community service and volunteering. Among others, this included
27 years with Beaches Baptist Auxiliary, volunteering with Beam, and a commitment to the democratic process as a poll worker.

Richard was dedicated to his loved ones. He was soft-spoken, observant, dry-witted, and wise. He loved his children and grandchildren regardless of their choices. He was a champion of their aspirations, applauded their accomplishments, and offered loving support in their times of need. He was passionate about language, speaking 3 languages, and was a stickler for grammar and vocabulary. He worked with computers for the Navy before we knew what they were. He embraced evolving technology until his death. He was an avid fan of local sports and tried to attend any game his family participated in. He believed every good man should have a pocket knife handy.

Richard supported many and varied charities. He and his family request donations in-of-lieu of flowers. Please see the links below.
