Luis Vicente

May 3, 1948 — October 5, 2020

Luis Vicente, 72, passed away on October 5, 2020. Luis was born in Sortelha, Portugal on May 3, 1948 to Maria de Conceicao and Manuel Vicente. Luis bravely served his country as a Green Beret fighting alongside American Special Forces in the jungles of Angola. This is where he developed his patriotic love for the USA and he lead a meaningful life in The United States for over 50 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Jaime (née Vicente) Daggett and his 3 Grandchildren (Ben, Gabby and Audrey Daggett). Luis will be greatly missed by his family; Alexander Daggett, Martha and Michael Pellino, his brothers (Jose), (Charles)and sister in France (Julia).

One of Luis’s most valuable life accomplishments has been 39 years of recovery and sobriety from alcohol and his participation in Alcoholics Anonymous. The Gift of Sobriety allowed my dad, Luis, to be present in my life and in countless other’s lives as well. His sobriety enabled him to be a  better man, a very loving father; and caring friend that left an impression on many people. Luis embodied the “giving back” spirit of AA by helping others who asked for help; and those who didn’t know how to ask for help yet. My Dad has left a great legacy for so many people at Penman Road. All who knew him, knew he was never without a tool in his hand, although his greatest tool was the compassion he felt for everyone else. He taught his daughter “One Day at a Time”-The future is unknown, and we can’t control the Universe, but we can control our own actions in the present.

Memorial Service will be held at 2pm, Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home, 3600 Third Street South, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250.
