Jeannette Haygood

September 24, 1941 — October 8, 2021

Jeannette Maureen Haygood was born in Luton, England on September 24, 1941 to Charles and Joan Lister.  On October 8, 2021, Jeannette passed away with her family surrounding her with love and care.

She is survived by her husband, Donald.  Daughter, Donna and her husband, Frank Wilson.  Son, Sheldon and his wife, Shelby of Gardendale, Alabama. Granddaughter, Laura (Wilson) and her husband, Joshua Brooks and great grandson, William of Mustang, Oklahoma.  Grandson, Frank Wilson and his wife, Audra of Gainesville, FL.  Granddaughter, Hannah Haygood and grandsons, Harper, Harrison, Hayes, Austin and Steven Haygood of Gardendale, AL.  Several nieces, nephews, and extended family across the globe.

Jeannette and Don were married in England on May 5, 1962, while Donald was enlisted in the US Air Force.  They were fortunate to be stationed in Italy, Texas, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and then retiring back in Texas.  They moved to Jacksonville, FL in 2018 to be cared for by their daughter and son-in-law.

Jeannette loved this country so much that in 1978 she became a naturalized citizen!  She loved gardening, golf, the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Cowboys and most importantly, her family.  She never met a stranger.  Over the past 21 years she battled COPD and multiple cancers.  She was a true fighter until her last breath.

There will be a memorial service at Schertz Funeral Home (2217 Roy Richard Dr, Schertz, TX 78154) on Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 10AM to Noon followed by an internment ceremony at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery (1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209) from 1PM to 1:30PM.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN or The Mayo Clinic, 4500 San Pablo Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32224.
