Janette Cordodor

March 7, 1955 — December 18, 2021

Janette (“Jan”) Diane Cordodor, 66, of Bremerton, Washington and Satellite Beach, Florida passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at the Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville from complications related to her brave battle against cancer.

Jan is survived by her loving husband of almost 29 years, David Cordodor, her daughter, Jessica Desposato, her grandsons, Malachai Desposato (18) and James Currier (8).  Jan is also survived by her beloved sister Terry Miller Ferguson.  She will be missed as well by her two devoted stepchildren and five step-grandchildren.

Jan was born in Pottstown, Pennsylvania on March 7, 1955, the second (and most personable) daughter of Janette and Marvin Davidheiser.  Jan was predeceased by her younger sisters, Jill and Lori and her beloved parents.

Jan left the East coast for Ripon, California in the early 1980s to be close to her parents and extended family.  Jan spent her life working in various health care settings, helping people as a physical therapy aid for more than 40 years.  Jan retired in 2015 to focus her energy on caring lovingly for her mother, Janette, until her sad passing in 2018.

Jan was an avid traveler, having had many adventures with David, Terry and Janette, as well as extended family and friends.  Jan loved to tell funny stories of trips and cruises to such locales as Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean, Panama, Mexico, England, Spain, Portugal, France and Italy.

Jan was a member of the Bremerton Yacht Club, which was not only a home for her favorite toy (a cabin cruiser) named Quick Charge and its smaller dinghy, Jeremiah, but where she and David shared their love of boating and Jan created a family of friends who will miss her terribly. Jan loved nothing more than being a Skipperette at the yacht club, engaging in all of the social activities and helping to coordinate summer picnics and Easter egg hunts.  Jan was an avid card player and brought her friends many experiences of loss at the other end of her Canasta prowess.

In recent years, David and Jan enjoyed wintering in Satellite Beach, Florida with Terry and her late husband, John.  As was the case wherever she went, Jan made new forever friends at their winter home, Majesty Palms. Sitting by the pool solving the world’s problems with Terry and the ladies was a popular pastime, as was enjoying the wonderful weather and sunshine with her constant canine companion, Teddy.

Jan will be fondly remembered by the many people she leaves behind as a funny, compassionate, loving friend.  Slow to anger and quick with humor and to help others, she will be terribly missed by us all.

Jan will be laid to rest along with her parents in Pennsylvania in 2022 and David will host West Coast friends and family for a Celebration of Life in the Spring, the details of both to follow.  David and Terry are overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and good wishes they continue to receive from all of those who love Jan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
