Claude Wilson, Jr.

NEPTUNE BEACH – Claude T. Wilson, Jr, 86, peacefully entered Heaven's gates on Tuesday, January 5, 2021.  Known by his family and friends as Tommy, he was born in Norfolk, VA, son of Claude T. Wilson, Sr and Lucille Davidson Wilson.

Tommy attended the College of William and Mary, honorably served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from civil service after 55 years.  A man of few words but great wit and intellect, Tommy had a great love of family and friends.

Tommy was an avid Redskins football fan, loved baseball, crossword puzzles and vintage cars.  He lived in Norfolk all his life until he reconnected and married his high school sweetheart, then resided in Neptune Beach.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 8 years, Sheila Shuford Wilson; stepsons Nathan Shuford and Eddy Shuford and his wife LeAnn all of Neptune Beach; two daughters, Karen Shaw and her husband Darby of Virginia Beach, Donna Harmond and her husband Andy of Chesapeake; four grandchildren, Kelly Abel, Brendan Shaw, Paige and Brittney Harmond; one step grandson, Cole Shuford and two great grandchildren, Curran and Diem Abel.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Cofer Wilson; daughter, Cheryl Lee Shaw; and sister, Betty Wilson Baines.

A memorial service will be held at 2PM, Saturday, January 23rd in Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home in Jacksonville Beach.  A graveside service will be held at 1PM, Saturday, January 30th in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, VA.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Mayo Clinic.
