Barbara Vanderschoot

February 13, 1947 — March 24, 2021

Barbara (Barb) Balog Vanderschoot, 74, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, formerly of Elizabeth, NJ, passed away in her home Wednesday, March 24, 2021, surrounded by her loving, devoted husband, Frank, and her grandson’s dog, Bagel, which brought her great joy in the last months of her life.
In respect for Barb’s wishes, there will be no funeral service or wake.
Barbara was born February 13, 1947 in Elizabeth, NJ, the daughter of Frank and Julia Balog. After graduating from high school in NJ, she moved with her parents to Ft. Lauderdale where she eventually met her future husband, Frank, floating on a raft on the ocean in Pompano Beach.
Barbara was a loving, caring, compassionate lady who was always concerned about the needs and problems of others before her own. After a long banking career with BOA, she resigned from her job to become a stay at home grandma and raise her two grandsons, Jacob and Andrew. She loved kids, animals, and most of all, her family and friends. Her favorite things to do were eating out, taking cruise vacations, and socializing with her many girlfriends at luncheons, water aerobics class, and boat trips to local beaches. Probably, her most admired trait that everybody loved was her unique sense of humor which always made people laugh. Her presence brought laughter and rays of sunlight into everyone’s lives who had the privilege of knowing her.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Frank Vanderschoot, her daughter Jennifer, her grandkids Jacob, Andrew, Noah, Jeremy, and Eve, her older sister Judith Lugo, and her cousins Patricia Janda and Sandra Kordyla.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (pancan.org/honormemorial-gifts), or Community Hospice and Palliative Care (www.communityhospice.com/foundation/memorial-giving/).
