William "Kim" Hensley

William Kimberly “Kim” Hensley, a devoted husband, father, brother, and “Papa” passed away on July 6, 2025 in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. 

Born in 1952 to Elizabeth and Paul Hensley, Kim grew up in Sanford, NC, where he played center for the 1968 State Champion Sanford Central football team. He graduated from NC State University with degrees in Recreation and Parks Administration as well as Conservation, and remained a devoted Wolfpack fan for life. 

Kim began his career as a park ranger at Pilot Mountain State Park, nurturing his love for the outdoors. He then went into business with his father-in-law, Jim Kyle, at Kyle Roofing Company and later owned and operated Hensley Metalworks in Fayetteville, NC. His passions included hunting, fishing, golf, and team sports. He especially enjoyed opening day dove hunts and ACC tournament weekends. Kim was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, serving as an usher and Vestry member. 

Kim is survived by his wife Eileen; children Kyle Hensley (Catherine) and Meg Durkin (Kevin) and their mother Anita Kyle Thomas; stepchildren Jason Smale (Angela) and Rebecca Zayas (Michael); brother Anderson Hensley; and ten beloved grandchildren. 

His family will deeply miss his steady and unconditional love and together share great peace and comfort in his complete healing and eternal life. 

A Funeral Service will be held at St John’s Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, NC on August 8,2025 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church.
