William County

November 5, 1943 — November 30, 2019

William “Bill” McClennan County, 76, passed peacefully in his sleep November 30, 2019 in Jacksonville Beach, FL of natural causes.  He was born November 5, 1943 in Tarrytown, New York.  Throughout his life Bill has resided in New York, Maine, North Carolina, Hawaii, Maryland, Florida and most recently Hope Town, Abaco, Bahamas where he lived since the mid-90s.

Bill attended The University of Miami in the early 60s, and since then he has always had a zest for adventure living a life on the water.  He explored the world as a boat captain and sailed the Caribbean on his beloved yacht and home of 36 years, Tamar II. During his later years he shared his passion for the seas through his watercolor paintings and wooden boat models as an accomplished artist.

Bill is survived by his son, Morgan County and wife Aprille, nieces Stephanie Rios and Kristin Crook, grand-nieces Ashley Rios and Mia Durrego, cousins Bill Berghaus and Paul Berghaus, as well as his grand-pup Jelly Bean.  He was predeceased by his father William McClennan, mother Beatrice County, stepfather Jack County, sister Tammy McClennan, and former wife Ellen County.

A Memorial Service is tentatively planned for spring 2020 in Hope Town, Abaco (details to be determined).  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Town Volunteer Fire and Rescue (http://htvfr.org/how-to-help.html) to assist the island in rebuilding after the devastating effects of Hurricane Dorian.
