Wesley Loyad Turner

Wesley Loyad Turner, husband, father, grandfather, and patriot, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida, at the age of 77. Wes was born on October 4, 1947, in Brunswick, Georgia, and spent most of his life serving his country, his community, and the people he loved.

A proud graduate of Jackson High School in Jacksonville, Florida, Wes went on to serve honorably in the United States Marine Corps, completing a tour in Vietnam. His commitment to public service continued with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, where he worked for several years, and later through active involvement in the Republican Party. He concluded a distinguished career with over 20 years in financial services at Merrill Lynch.

Wes was a passionate football fan, cheering for his hometown Jacksonville Jaguars and the Florida Gators with unwavering enthusiasm. His love for the game was only matched by the love he had for his family and friends.

Wes is survived by his wife, Linda Roberts Turner; son, Lee Roberts, and wife Kelsey Roberts; his cherished grandchildren, Grayson Roberts and Maddison Roberts; his brother-in-law, Michael Roberts, and wife Patty Roberts; nephew, Drew Roberts, his niece Starr Barton and husband Derrick Barton, great-nephew Quincy Barton, and great-niece Delaney Barton, niece Summer Jackson. He was predeceased by his parents Woodrow and Mildred Turner and brother Terry Turner. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A service honoring Wes's life will be held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Wes’s memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a cause close to his heart and reflective of his lifelong dedication to service.
