Virginia Irene McCaslin

Ginny McCaslin passed away peacefully with family by her side on June 30, 2025, at the age of 80, at the McGraw Hospice Center in Jacksonville, Florida, following a recent illness.

Born on July 8, 1944, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, to Fred and Frances Valle, Ginny attended Union Area High School - Class of 1962 and graduated from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in 1967 with a degree in Secondary Education. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel the country while working in loss prevention for JCPenney. She later built a fulfilling career in executive administrative roles, including with the Department of International Affairs at George Mason University, as well as in various church positions, primarily as the Executive Assistant at Truro Church, Fairfax, Virginia.

An active member of The Church of the Good Shepherd in Burke, VA, Ginny balanced her professional life with her role as a devoted mother to her three children and three step-children. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Jim McCaslin. They were married on August 10, 1985. Together, they were called to settle in Jacksonville, FL in 1996, where they built a life centered on faith, family, and service in local churches.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her niece Ann Boyle and brothers-in-law William Boyle and Lee (Charlotte) McCaslin.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 39 years, Jim McCaslin—they would have celebrated their 40th anniversary this August. Ginny leaves behind her loving children: Ryan (Rachel) Kaufman, Stacy Kaufman, and Cory (Tamara) Kaufman; and her cherished stepchildren: Jake (Debi) McCaslin, Jeff McCaslin, and Eric (Liz) McCaslin and eleven grandchildren. She was a proud grandmother to Savanna, Rocco, Brixton, London, Kara, and Leo Kaufman, and a beloved step-grandmother to Zach (Caroline), Nick McCaslin, Victoria Durham, Caitlin, and Luke McCaslin.

She is also survived by her dear sister Barbara Boyle, nephew John (Heather) Boyle, as well as many loving cousins, great nieces and nephews, lifelong friends and her devoted church family.

A longtime resident of Jacksonville, Ginny was a devoted member of the Church of Our Savior. She found joy in many of life’s simple pleasures—spending quality time with her family, watching movies, TV series, and game shows, and staying closely connected to her church community. She loved bird watching, playing with her beloved dog Breezy, time at the beach, cooking and sharing meals with friends and family, and playing games—especially Rummikub. Ginny was also a loyal Jaguars fan.

Ginny’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith touched all who knew her. She will be remembered for always having a smile on her face, her grace and strength, patience, gentle spirit, and, above all, her deep love for her family and passion for animals.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 21st at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Our Savior, 2092 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Church of Our Savior. A reception will immediately follow in the parish hall. Interment will take place at Jacksonville National Cemetery for family and friends who wish to make the 45-minute drive.
