Theodore Roosevelt Newsome, “Ted,” three weeks shy of 87, passed away on June 7, 2021. He was born on June 29, 1934 in Fullerton, Kentucky. He grew up in Portsmouth, Ohio and attended Ohio University where he received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. After serving a short stint in the US Army in White Sands, New Mexico, he was employed by the US Army Corps of Engineers for 34 years.
Ted loved running, working in the yard, going to the beach, and talking to his neighbors. He spent many years traveling to the Florida Reception and Medical Center in Lake Butler, FL - talking to Prisoners about Jesus. He is survived in life by his wife of 53 years, Cheryl. He is survived by his daughter, Lori Carr (John) and son, David Newsome (Sarah), and grandchildren, John, Zachary and Aja.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Quinn Shalz Family Funeral Home, located at 3600 Third Street South, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250. In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice.
