Susan Sandberg Wilkinson, Neptune Beach, was born in Jacksonville on March 20, 1944 and passed away on July 1, 2023.  She was predeceased by her husband, David H. Wilkinson; parents, Fred Sandberg and Elizabeth Sandberg LaRue; and sister Sally Sandberg Brandon.  She is survived by her son John C. Wilkinson, daughter-in-law Amanda, and grandsons Aaron and Josh Wilkinson; two brothers, John (Sandra) Sandberg and Fred Sandberg; and several nieces and nephews.

Susan was a graduate of Fletcher High School and received her B. S. from University of North Carolina Greensboro; Master’s from University of North Florida; and Doctor of Educational Leadership from University of Florida.  She was a long-time educator in Duval County Public Schools at Fletcher High School and was a member of the founding administrative team for Stanton Preparatory School responsible for instructional design.  Susan served eight years on the Duval County School Board including two terms as Chair.  She also served as Executive Director of Episcopal Children’s Services and Executive Director of the Schultz Center for Teaching and Leadership.

Susan was a lay leader and active member of Christ Episcopal Church in Ponte Vedra Beach.  She also was a certified instructor of Mindful Meditation as well as a certified Yoga instructor.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am on Friday July 7th at Christ Episcopal Church, 400 San Juan Drive, Ponte Vedra Beach.  A reception will be held in the Parish Hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Community Hospice.
