Shirley Yvonne Young

On Wednesday, May 24, 2023, Shirley Yvonne Young (Buckland) went home to be with her Lord and Savior. Born in Kingston, Jamaica to Wilfred and Delores Buckland, she was the third of six girls. Shirley was very vibrant and outgoing. She loved to dance and was known as the Cha Cha Queen. She won the Miss Labor Day Beauty Pageant in 1958. She married Glen Young, and they migrated to Queens, NY with their 4 children on July 4, 1970, where they had their fifth child. She worked in the health field for many years until retiring to Jacksonville, FL. She is survived by her sisters Janet, Kay, and Patsy, five children Julie, Sylvanne, Glenise, Sean, and Quinton, 13 grandchildren, 4 great granddaughters and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 3 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home, 3600 Third Street S. Jacksonville Beach, FL.
