Sara Louise Bass passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025. She was born on September 6, 1941, in Akron, Ohio, and grew up in the Cuyahoga Falls area. Her parents were Frederick William Kraus and Florence Lucille Bishop, both of whom preceded her in death. After graduating from Cuyahoga Falls High School, she attended college, became a high school business teacher, and continued in that profession for several years. She met and married her husband, Waulen W. Bass (known to most as Sam), and began traveling with him as he pursued his career in the Navy in 1969. They had two children from their union, Laura Johnson (Ellis) and Sam Bass, both of Jacksonville.
As her children grew up, Sara attended school, earned her real estate license, and began working as a licensed agent. She worked for several companies at the beach and had her own business for a short period of time. However, when her grandchildren started to arrive, she found her greatest role as a grandmother. She took great joy in being a grandparent and devoted herself to her grandchildren.
Sara was a loving mother, wife, and grandmother. She was extremely compassionate, empathetic, and caring to those in her inner circle and would go above and beyond for anyone in need. Her dogs were her “babies,” and she loved and spoiled them dearly. Her laughter was always loud, natural, and contagious. She was an amazing woman.
In addition to her husband and children, she leaves behind her four beloved grandchildren, Brittany Hall (Jireh), Jacob Johnson, Seth Bass, and Sara Johnson. She also leaves behind her brother Karl Kraus, cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews.
