Rose Marie Cayangyang, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and respected member of the Filipino American community, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026. Born April 27, 1949, and raised primarily in Pasig, Philippines, she possessed strong values in family and faith and developed an unwavering work ethic.
She married Romeo Tuazon Cayangyang, also from Pasig, who later served in the United States Navy. Together they shared a loving marriage of 56 years. As a proud and devoted Navy wife, Rose supported her husband through multiple moves, deployments, and challenges of military life while simultaneously raising two boys and working various jobs. Duty stations included Yokosuka, Japan; San Diego, California; Kingsville, Texas; and, eventually, Jacksonville, Florida, where they have resided since 1980.
Rose built an exceptional career in real estate spanning over four decades. Beginning with EDA Realty, her dedication, integrity, and talent quickly set her apart. She proceeded to Watson Realty, where she earned membership in the prestigious Multi-Million Dollar Club multiple times before achieving her dream of becoming her own broker and opening John-Jay Realty. Her professionalism and mentorship left a lasting impact on colleagues and clients alike. She was admired not only for her business accomplishments but also for her warmth and willingness to help others succeed.
Rose was well known and deeply respected within the Filipino American community, actively involved in groups such as the Filipino American Republicans of Northeast Florida. She was a loving and sincere friend to many, often helping others with her generosity. She never forgot her roots, contributing to her former Alma Mater and participating in medical mission trips to the Philippines.
Rose is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Romeo; her son, Jay, and his wife, Linda, and their children: Nathan, Maggie (James), Noah, Lily (Payton), and Niko. She is also survived by her son, John, and his wife, Rebecca, and their children: Romeo, Elijah, Winifred, and Levi. She was also joyfully awaiting the arrival of her tenth grandchild, John and Rebecca’s baby girl. She is also survived by her sister, Milagros, and brother, Apolinario.
Rose will be remembered for her strength, grace, entrepreneurial spirit, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched, both personally and professionally. Her presence will be missed profoundly.
