Roger Graham Gallop, born January 1, 1947, in Gainesville, Florida, son of the late Iva May (Lord) Gallop and Parron Graham Gallop, passed peacefully into Jesus’ loving arms on March 12, 2026, at the age of 79.
Roger is survived by his cherished and devoted wife of 51 years, Katharine; his beloved son, Chris, and daughter-in-law, Rachel; and his precious grandchildren, Noah and Hannah. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gwendolyn Sharon Hinson.
Roger was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. Throughout his life, he persevered through many hardships, always grounded in his faith and sustained by the unwavering love of his wife, Katharine, whose kindness, patience, and generosity were a constant blessing to him. Roger was a deeply loving and devoted husband and father, and he was dearly cherished by his family.
He often said, “I always tried hard and persevered, always loved my wife Kay and family, and kept my eyes on our Lord Jesus Christ.” These words reflected the values by which he lived.
Roger served in Vietnam as an officer in the United States Marine Corps, completing his service with the rank of Captain. He received numerous decorations recognizing his combat service, professional excellence, and unit commendations. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Beaches Memorial Park cemetery.
Beyond his military service, Roger earned three college degrees, including a doctorate. He was a lifelong member of the American Red Cross Volunteer Life Saving Corps, a certified professional geologist, and owned and operated a geotechnical and environmental consulting business for more than 30 years. He was also the author of three non-fiction books.
A private family graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on March 24, 2026, at Beaches Memorial Park cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roger’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
