It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Robert Benjamin Spencer on Sunday, February 1, 2026. Robert was the eldest son of Michael and Suzanne Spencer, and the older brother of Kathryn, Jacob, and Chris Spencer.
Robert and his former wife, Jodi, shared four amazing children together: Logan, Landon, Liam, and Kendall Spencer.
After graduating from Nease High School in 2003, Robert decided to pursue a career as a firefighter and paramedic, earning a bachelor’s degree in Fire Science.
For 15 years, Robert proudly served the Jacksonville community as a firefighter/paramedic with the Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department. Through dedication and hard work, he rose to the rank of Captain and helped save countless lives along the way.
Robert was always active, and when he found something he loved, he went all in. His favorite sports included football, surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, and more recently, tennis. He was an avid fan of photographer Peter Lik, especially his beach collections, and you could always count on Robert to take a million photos on every vacation.
He loved landscaping and could often be found in his yard caring for his plants, orchids, and palm trees. He was also a firm believer that chicken parmesan does too come with fettuccine alfredo.
Of course, Robert's most prized possession was his supercharged Roush Mustang GT. He loved detailing, customizing, and working on his cars — changing the body style, performance, and making each one uniquely his. You always knew when Rob was pulling up; the sound of his exhaust system could be heard from a mile away.
Robert went all out for every holiday. He spent hours making sure his house was the scariest and most decorated in the neighborhood for Halloween, fell off the ladder more than once hanging Christmas lights, and was known for having the best fireworks displays every Fourth of July and New Year’s Eve.
Robert will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him. The cherished memories and moments shared with him will forever remain in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
