Robert Harrison Black, 86, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed on December 6, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, two children, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and sister that all loved him greatly. His life was a template on how to live a full, productive life.

He was prolific with innovative ideas on how to make useful things and improve processes—and he successfully brought his ideas to life. Among his 17 patents across diverse fields, the residents of Jacksonville may know him best by his invention of a non-toxic product called Clean Shower (US Patent 5,910,474) that allows us to maintain a clean shower without wiping or scrubbing. He was an accomplished chemist, registered professional engineer, US Air Force captain, and businessman that founded three companies.

His Christian faith centered his life. In one of the six books that he authored, “A Scientist Investigates the Bible, Jesus, and the Spirit.” he outlined evidence for Christianity.

Relationships with other people were important to him. He maintained warm relationships with family and friends and was known to routinely establish rapport with ease with anyone who crossed his path. He was inherently charismatic, with keen listening and storytelling skills as well as a quickness to smile and laugh. We, his family, will cherish our memories with him forever.
