Ralph Benjamin Velard, 91, passed away on December 8, 2021, surrounded by family. He was pre-deceased by his wife of over 50 years, Louise Dorothy Velard. He was born on September 23, 1930, in Plainfield, NJ where he lived and worked until moving to Florida with Louise, in 1990. Ralph was a Korean War veteran who proudly served his country with the 405th Bomb Squadron in the Air Force. Ralph was a wonderful father and grandfather who loved his family, loved to golf and loved watching football. He is survived by his 3 daughters: Denise Whidden (Chris), Marie Franzoni (Charlie), and Teresa Fennimore (Clay). He was also the proud grandfather to Martin, Nicole, Jon-Paul, Jarrett, Ian, Anthony and Gina. In his last years of life, Ralph was attentively cared for in the most wonderful way by the loving and caring staff at Atria Senior Living. Services to be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Jacksonville Beach on January 3, 2022, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Association (Alz.org) will be gladly accepted. Ralph will be laid to rest at the Jacksonville National Cemetery on January 3, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. along with his wife, Louise.
