Philip Joseph Viavattine

Philip Joseph Viavattine, 81, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away at home on August 16, 2026, following a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born on July 30, 1945, in Rochester, New York, to Joseph and Irene Viavattine.

Philip proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he worked as a Postal Police Officer for the United States Postal Inspection Service. He later combined his technical abilities with an independent spirit by establishing his own computer repair business.

Determined and persistent, Philip faced life with the same resolve that carried him through his illness. He was known for his stubborn streak as well as his sense of humor. An accomplished marksman, he enjoyed target practice at the shooting range. He also enjoyed fishing, spending time near the ocean, studying history, and watching old war movies and documentaries. His service in the Marine Corps remained one of his proudest accomplishments.

Philip is survived by his children, Joseph (Mary) Viavattine, Julie (Paul) Kneubuel, Tony Viavattine, and Jessica (Cole) Carlin; and his grandchildren, Zoey Viavattine, Mindy (Riley) Weeks, Lydia Kneubuel, Maddie Kneubuel, Brian Viavattine, and Millie Viavattine.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Michelle Viavattine. Philip will be remembered with respect for his determination, humor, military service, and the life he lived.
