Philip Joseph Curley passed peacefully surrounded by his daughters on November 22, 2015 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born December 9, 1932 in Richmond, Virginia to Anna and Charles Curley. Philip graduated from the University of Richmond, where he met and married the former Betty Anne Doyle, his wife of 58 years. He worked as a Naval Investigator, moving his family to southern Maryland, California and Japan until his retirement from his last assignment at the U.S. Naval Academy in the eighties. He continued to work as a background investigator into his late 70's. Phil was a faithful member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Severna Park, Maryland. He loved singing in the choir and volunteering. Phil is survived by his 3 daughters, Suzanne (Anthony), Beth (Ron), and Erin (Chuck); 7 grandchildren, Megan, Anna, Caitlin, Margaret, Caroline, Anthony Jr. and Dani; and sister, Pat Glass (Ben). He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (died October 19, 2015), his parents, and 6 brothers and sisters. Phil will be remembered for his unconditional love and will always hold a place in the heart of everyone in his extended family. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257, in memory of Philip Curley for the extraordinary care he received at the McGraw Center.
