Peter Dillon Hannigan, 72, passed away peacefully on October 8th, 2022, surrounded by his wife and 3 children. He was born Feb 2nd, 1950, in Rockville Centre, NY to William and Marguerite Hannigan. Upon turning 18, Pete proudly served 2 years with the Army in Vietnam. After his service, he became an Industrial Engineer and spent 46 years working for Northrup Grumman, retiring in 2014. In 1997, he relocated his family to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.
Pete was a devoted husband to his wife Laura of 47 years, whom he loved dearly. He was regularly overwhelming her with his collectibles by bringing home various "gifts". In addition, he loved to spend time with his 3 boys. They would often go golfing or bowling together, shoot clays and go hunting. Once retired, Pete bought an offshore fishing boat and loved to spend time with his boys out on the water. Sure enough, something on the boat always needed fixing, which fueled his desire to "tinker" with the boat.
Pete, like his father, was incredibly skilled at fixing anything mechanical. Throughout his life, he was always working with his hands as he enjoyed the challenge of getting something back to working order. He was always there for his kids when they needed assistance with projects on their homes. He also never turned down a chance to help others, enjoyed making friends and talking politics. He was a passionate Yankee fan who raised his boys to carry on this family tradition as well.
Pete is survived by his loving wife, Laura; sons Peter (wife Leah, granddaughters Cailyn and Alex), Matthew (granddaughters Braelyn and Brooklyn) and Thomas. Brother Bill and sister Mary.
