Peter Sanford Davison, 75, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on October 28 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Pete, born on June 6, 1947, to Vincent Mercer Davison and Lylette “Lette” Dunn Davison Smith, grew up in Augusta, Georgia where he met his wife of 53 years, Jayne Brooks Cudd Davison.  He was a graduate of Richmond Academy and the University of Georgia, where he was an SEC Champion in golf and a Sigma Alpha Epsilon brother.

Pete played the PGA TOUR in the 1970’s, winning the prestigious Metropolitan Open in 1973 and played in three U.S. Open Championships.  In addition, he was a Lifetime Class A Member of the Professional Golfers Association of America.  Pete had a 25-year career with the PGA TOUR where he developed and built the network of Tournament Players Clubs (TPCs) across the U.S., setting the standards for golf club operations and service.

Pete will be most remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who was devoted to his family.  He also had a passion for golf, fishing, music, Harley Davidson motorcycles, model trains, collectibles and more.

Pete is survived by his children, Peter Sanford (Sandy) Davison Jr., Ashley Brooks Laughlin, and Kelly Davison Boston; his grandchildren, Karen Ashley Rees, and Sydney Brooks Laughlin; and two great grandchildren, Gideon, and Nolan Rees.

A Celebration of Life is planned for both Pete and his wife, Jayne, at 2pm on Wednesday, December 14 at Quinn Shalz Funeral Home in Jacksonville Beach, Florida.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
