Patricia B. Hernandez

Patricia B. Hernandez was born December 31, 1931, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Roy and Madge Pike. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 12^th, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Pat was known as “Grandmother from Florida”, “Mema”, “Grandma”, or just “Mom”.  She was kind, loving, friendly, and outgoing.  She loved her family and was a devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  Pat was a faithful servant of the Lord; follower of Jesus. 

She graduated from Fletcher High School in Neptune Beach, FL; Class of 1950. She worked for the Barnett National Bank, American Bank, Englewood High School, and Ryder Truck Lines where she retired.  

She was married to William R. Hernandez, Sr. “Billy” for 63 years (deceased 2015). He retired from the Florida Times Union after 43 years. She and Billy were the first couple to be married in the First Christian Church at the Beach in 1951. They loved to dance; square dancing, ballroom dancing, line dancing, and round dancing.  They were avid travelers, traveling to all 50 states. Pat sang in the choir at First Christian Church of Neptune Beach, was a past President of the Senior Adult Ministry, was active in the Christian Women’s Fellowship and attended Sunday School for many years. 

Pat is survived by her brother Douglas D. Pike, her children; Janice Shannon (Douglas), Charlotte Bernreuter (Chuck), Riley Hernandez (Julie), and Andy Hernandez (Wanda). She will miss her thirteen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren. She will always keep her children close to her heart.

The family will receive friends and loved ones for Visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Thursday, April 18 ,2024, in Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home, 3600 Third Street S, Jacksonville Beach, FL, 32250. The Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 am Friday, April 19, 2024, in The First Christian Church of Neptune Beach at 2125 Ocean Front, Neptune Beach, FL, 32266. Reception to follow the service in the fellowship hall.
