Patricia Warren Carbo (née Sterling) of Neptune Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on Sunday, April 12, following a brief battle with multiple myeloma.
Patricia, known to many as Pat, was born in Detroit, Michigan and spent much of her early life in the Midwest. She attended Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. During her college years, she met her first husband, Robert “Bob” Warren, at a Young Life weekend. He proposed on their first date and together they shared 49 years of marriage and raised three children.
Pat began her professional life as a social worker in Baltimore, Maryland. After relocating to Florida, she became a real estate broker and, alongside her husband Bob, played a key role in developing the Indian Springs subdivision on Atlantic Boulevard. Later in life, she reconnected with her high school prom date, Charles “Charlie” Carbo, and the two were married in 2019.
Pat will be remembered most for her warmth, generosity, and remarkable gift for hospitality. She welcomed friends, family, and strangers alike into her home and around her table. Her curiosity about the world was reflected in her love of travel, as she had visited more than a dozen countries. An avid reader who stayed engaged with current events, Pat was also a valued teammate at her local weekly trivia gatherings.
A longtime member of Ponte Vedra Presbyterian Church, Pat’s love for others was deeply rooted in her faith. Her devotion to Christ shaped her life and inspired her desire to share His love with those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Barbara Sterling, her first husband, Robert Warren, and her honorary son Yusuf Masih.
Pat is survived by her beloved husband, Charles Carbo; her brothers, Wilson Sterling, Richard Sterling (Susan), and Bradley Sterling (Amelia); her children, Amy Clay (Daniel), Gretchen Krauss (Matthew), and Robert Warren Jr. (Jennifer); her grandchildren, Sterling, Hannah, and Stuart Clay; Alden Warren; Zachary, Gracie, and Brittany Hagen; and Emma and Cole Krauss; as well as her three great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Louisa, and Robert Clay.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family finds comfort in the assurance that she is no longer in pain and now rests in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 15, at 11:00 a.m. at Ponte Vedra Presbyterian Church. Interment in Conestoga, Pennsylvania, will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Coast Women’s Services or Samaritan’s Purse.
