Nancy Lee Ferruggio

Nancy Lee Ferruggio, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on December 13, 2023, at the age of 69. She was born on November 25, 1954, in Cape May Court House, New Jersey, to Dorothy and Ray Gibson and lived in Jacksonville Beach starting in 1992.

Nancy's journey through life was marked by kindness, resilience, and a deep love for her family. She graduated from Atlantic City Community College, a testament to her dedication to education and personal growth, and had a lifelong career in the insurance industry, beginning in a clerical position and eventually obtaining management status. Her warm and caring nature touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her, and she will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Christine (Walter) DeCastro, and her adored grandson, Samuel DeCastro. Nancy is also survived by her sister, Betty Jean Wunder, and her brother, Raymond (Nancy) Gibson, and her two nieces and a nephew.

There will be a visitation at Quinn Shalz Family Funeral Home, 3600 3rd Street South, Jacksonville Beach, Florida, on Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. where friends and family can pay their respects.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to Community Hospice and Palliative Care at thefoundationcares.org. Nancy battled cancer for ten years and was known as a strong warrior against the disease.  The family expresses their eternal gratitude for the compassionate care provided by the organization during Nancy's final days.

Nancy will be remembered for her enduring love, courageous spirit, and the positive impact she made on the lives of those around her. May she rest in peace, and may her memory continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
