Nancy Cooley Brooks, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Bronxville NY to the late George and Virginia Cooley, Nancy moved with her family shortly thereafter to Louisville, where she attended Kentucky Home School for Girls. She later attended University of Kentucky and was a proud member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. During her youth, she met and married her high school sweetheart, Dr. Paul C. Brooks Jr., beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love and devotion.

Nancy was an accomplished and spirited athlete whose competitive nature and enthusiasm for life were evident in all she pursued. In her younger years, she excelled in field hockey and earned distinction as the National Junior Rifle Champion. Throughout her adult life, she enjoyed golf and tennis with many dear friends and was a member of Harmony Landing Country Club and the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club.

Professionally, Nancy built a successful career as a real estate agent in Louisville before retiring to Ponte Vedra Beach, where she later became a resident of Vicar’s Landing.

Nancy will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her kind and generous heart, and her deep love for family and friends. She brought warmth, laughter, and strength to those fortunate enough to know her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Paul C. Brooks Jr. She is survived by her children, Ellen Wicke (Chris), Carol Ditzel (Alan), and Dr. Paul C. Brooks III (Hope); her seven grandchildren, Danny Wicke (Corinne), Dr. Andrew Wicke (Emily), Allison Meers (Dave), Matthew Ditzel (Jen), Paul C. Brooks IV, Patrick Brooks, and Clayton Brooks; and her eleven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to include a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation
