Monica B. Hayes

In loving memory of Monica Hayes, dedicated mother, grandmother, and teacher. From Leigh on Sea, England, Monica came to America in 1963 and settled in Florida, where she raised her three children. Creative, resourceful, and energetic, she was active in the Junior Women’s Club of Jacksonville Beach and was instrumental in some of the club’s most successful fundraising efforts of the 1970s and 1980s, including the Jax Beach Mini-Walk. Monica earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of North Florida. She was committed to early childhood education and taught regular and special education classes at Jacksonville Beach Elementary and Atlantic Beach Elementary. A lover of travel, books, history, music, and all things English, she was especially devoted to her three grandchildren. Monica is survived by her children Sarah Kelly (Tim), Chris Smith (Laura), and Emma Hayes (Nicholas) and her beloved grandchildren Iain Smith, Gemma Smith, and Lily Hayes.
