Marcia Brown Brucker passed away on June 4, 2025 at the age of 87, in Ponte Vedra, Florida where she had been a resident for many years.
Marcia was born in New York, New York on July 28, 1937 to her parents William Atwell Brown Jr. and Ruth (Jones) Brown. She graduated in 1955 from New Trier High school, in Chicago, Illinois, then continued on to Stevens College in Columbia, Missouri. After college Marcia was united in marriage with David Grismore and this union was later blessed with their son, David Richard Grismore Jr.
During her time in Iowa, Marcia learned to fly and one of her proudest accomplishments was being one of the first female flight instructors in the state of Iowa. She later went on to become a corporate pilot for the State of Minnesota and a Cessna dealer. She was awarded many accolades and took pride in her many accomplishments during her time in aviation. Marcia was also an avid marksman and enjoyed many hours spent at the gun range.
While living in Minnesota, she married her husband, Lewis Brucker. They spent 30 wonderful years together where they enjoyed traveling, taking cruises and fine dining. Marcia herself was an excellent cook, as everyone in her family can attest.
Marcia is preceded in death by her husband Lewis Brucker, parents William and Ruth Brown, and her sister Mary Lou (Brown) Smith.
She is survived by her son, David Grismore (Linda) of Croydon; step-daughters, Nancy Douglass (Ed), Sarah McCauley and Wendy Free (Noel); all of Cincinnati. Grandchildren, Kessa Hoepker (Curtis);,Jordan Grismore, Marshal Thaxter, Sarah Thaxter Necessary (Ben), Ashley Thaxter Marsh (Adam), Cody Douglass (Erin), Brenden Douglass (Erica), Lauren, Alex McCauley, and Leigh Fidler; Several great grandchildren and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice and Palliative Care of Jacksonville, Florida.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.
