Linda Elder

d. August 6, 2020

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Linda Atter Elder, passed away in her home at the age of 93 on August 6th, 2020. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Ronald Elder and her parents Sam and Josephine Atter.

She is survived by her children Janis Elder Solomon (Greg), Ginger Elder Ricker (David) and Ronda Elder McCullagh (Kevin); grandchildren, Aimee Solomon, Joseph Solomon (Summer), Loraine Skutt (Shawn), Lauren Greear (Jarrett); great grandchildren, Zachary Cheary, Samantha and Nicholas Solomon, Juliette Greear, Zeke Skutt, Austin Greear and Lennon Skutt; step grandchildren, Venus Durden (Shawn), Kevin McCullagh Jr. (Nina), Brendan McCullagh (Erica) and Lorena Saladino; sisters, Lillie Disch (Jerry) Loraine Atter Jacobs; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Our mother was a tender, loving and nurturing woman, who was a hard worker, a beautiful singer, and a sharp comedian. She met her loving husband Ronald while singing at the USO club for our soldiers.

She enjoyed bowling, reading, and cooking. She loved traveling with her bowling team and playing bunko with her “girls” while cooking for them. She loved cooking the most, (especially Lebanese food), and always made sure everyone (family, neighbors, whoever) were fed and had a plate to go!

She also loved football. There wasn’t much our mother couldn’t talk to you about when it came to first her Pittsburgh Steelers and then of course her Jacksonville Jags.

Mother was never boring to be around and had a wonderful sense of humor. She definitely never hesitated to speak her peace. We could sit for hours and listen to her tell her family history stories. All who knew Linda, knew her girls and their families were her world. She loved it when the four of us were all together (yes usually eating)!

We know Linda Elder will be sorely missed by many who considered her “Mom”. A Memorial Celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to the American Lung or Kidney Association.
