Linda Hartinger Cunningham

August 8, 1942 — July 2, 2022

Jacksonville

Linda passed away July 2, 2022, at her home due to natural causes. She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Linda is survived by her 3 children; 12 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband and 2 grandsons.

Linda was born August 8, 1942, in Welsh, WVA, where she was doted on by her parents and two older brothers. She graduated from a diploma nursing program at Charleston General Hospital. She met and married David Cunningham on Nov. 2, 1962, moved to Lake Chaweva, and raised 3 children: Mark (Shel), Annie (Al) and Jon.

The family moved to Jacksonville the summer of 1977. Linda continued her nursing career by working at Memorial Hospital during the 80’s. She had a very active social life, weekends filled with parties, bridge night or the Jai Alai, dog track with Dave. After Dave’s retirement, they spent many years traveling in their RV.

When Dave passed away in 2010, as it happens to most couples in love, Linda’s grief and loss burdened her after his passing. Though her death brings her children great sorrow, we rejoice knowing Mom has been reunited with Dad in the Kingdom of Heaven.

A special thank you to Michelle McHale and Kimberly Goodman for caring for Mom over the years. Your help has been greatly appreciated by the family. Thank you to Taryn Hamilton, Carl Logan, Maria Batista, Justin Preston, Shanique Roomes and other care providers from Vitas Healthcare. Your love and support during Mom’s journey will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, July 9, 2022, in the chapel of Quinn Shalz Funeral Home, 3600 3rd St S, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250.
