Leedom Kettell

Leedom Kettell, 87 of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, passed away after a short illness on October 23, 2026.

Leedom was born in Yonkers, NY on June 19, 1939. He grew up in Suffern, NY. He earned his degree in economics from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1961, where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He earned an MBA from the University of Chicago in 1963. He served in the Coast Guard Reserves in Alameda, California.

In 1967 he married Pamela Ball of Carmi, Illinois. They had two sons, Andrew Leedom Kettell (Fayetteville, NY) and Edward Campbell Kettell (Orcas Island, WA). They were married for 30 years until her passing in 1997.

In 2004, Leedom married his second wife Laura Shapiro Torrey (Ponte Vedra, FL). They enjoyed 22 years together sharing their second chapter in Sawgrass Country Club.

Never one to sit still, Leedom had a storied professional life working for Xerox, University Microfilms, Brodart Industries and Gaylord Brothers where he was President from 1982-88. After leaving corporate life, he owned and operated, Central Marking Equipment Corp. and Dix Type.

Leedom gave generously of his time to Central New York. He chaired the 1987 United Way campaign and later served as Vice President of Resource Development. He was Chairman of the Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce and Vice Chair of the Onondaga County Industrial Development Agency. He also served on the Boards of WCNY, the Metropolitan Development Association and the Syracuse University School of Information Studies and Consolidated Industries.

After coming to Ponte Vedra Beach, he volunteered his time to the Sawgrass Master Association, serving as President in 2010 and President of Sawgrass Country Club 2016-2018. He loved golf, long bicycle rides and platform tennis. He was an active member of the Palms Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Laura; his sons, Andrew and Ned. His daughter in law, Kristin Cicci Kettell and his three grandchildren, Olivia Campbell Kettell, Jackson Andrew Kettell and Will Joseph Kettell and his sister Linda Kettell Musial.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 am to 2 pm Saturday, November 21, 2026 at Sawgrass Country Club, 10034 Golf Club Drive, Ponte Vedra, FL.
