Kenneth Edward Ley, 80, of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025, after a long illness. A longtime resident of the Beaches community, Kenn was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose warmth, humor, and gentle spirit touched all who knew him.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Kenn proudly served in the United States Navy before beginning his long and dedicated 33-year career with the Federal Reserve Bank. He retired in 2008 to spend more time enjoying his hobbies and his family, who meant everything to him. He found joy in music, computers, movies, and old-time radio. He also loved watching his grandchildren participate in sports and accompanying them to amusement parks. He was a devoted parishioner of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, where he spent many years volunteering and singing in the choir.
Kenn is preceded in death by his first wife, Judith Ley, with whom he spent 36 years building a loving family, and by his beloved son, Christopher Ley. He is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Valorie Ley; sons, Brendon Ley (Jessica) and Garrett Ley (Amanda); daughters, Melissa Ley, Michelle Zwatschka (Michael), and Shayla Ley; and his daughter-in-law Jasmine Ley, whom he loved as his own child. Kenn was a cherished grandfather to Sarah Zwatschka, Rachel Zwatschka, Jackson Ley, Ryan Ley, Marvin Ley, Emma Ley, Colton Ley, Lincoln Ley, and Lauren Ley, all of whom brought immense pride and joy to his life. He is also lovingly remembered by his extended family, with whom he shared many cherished memories.
Gathering of friends and family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Friday, December 5, 2025, in Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home with a rosary (vigil) service starting at 6:00 pm. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, December 6, 2025, in St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 224 5th Street North, Jacksonville Beach.
