Kenneth John DeCray, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on September 19, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida, at the age of 82, after a long illness, surrounded by his cherished family. Born on November 18, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Kenneth led a life marked by dedication, humor, and an unmatched skill set that garnered the admiration of many.
A proud alumnus of Haverford High School in Havertown, Pennsylvania, Class of 1960, Kenneth was not only known for his academic achievements but also for his prowess on the wrestling mat. He furthered his education at Western Kentucky University, graduating in 1966 with a bachelor's degree. During his college years, he pursued boxing and showcased his musical talent by playing the drums to support his studies.
Kenneth’s career began at a banking firm right out of college, yet it was his transition to sales at Johnson and Johnson's Animal Health Division that truly highlighted his affinity for both animals and mechanics. His innovative spirit shone brightly as he became a leading expert in veterinary anesthesia machines, culminating in the design of his very own machine tailored for veterinarians. Kenneth's professional journey was characterized by his commitment to excellence, making him a respected figure in his field.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Kenneth was known for his warmth and humor. A man who possessed a finely tuned sense of timing for jokes, he was widely regarded as funny and well-liked by colleagues and friends alike. His mechanical talent and artistic nature allowed him to express himself through various creative outlets, including painting and music. Kenneth had a particular fondness for dogs, especially his own two companions, Leo and Beau, and he enjoyed collecting clocks and cars, which showcased his multifaceted interests.
Kenneth's character was defined by his moral values and his strength, both physical and mental. He was a devoted husband to Nancy Joyce, his adoring wife of 60 years, and a loving father to Dawn (Michael) Kimber and William (Sikiu) DeCray. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Kenny, Megan, Gavin, and Kamryn, who carry forth his spirit and teachings.
He leaves behind his beloved sister, Peggy Stout, and her daughter, Karen, along with countless friends and colleagues who were touched by his kindness and expertise. Kenneth is preceded in death by his cherished parents, John and Marguerite DeCray.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, October 12, 2025 beginning at 12:00 pm at the Ponte Vedra Lodge & Club, 607 Ponte Vedra Blvd., Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
