Kathleen S. Mould

December 2, 1919 — August 22, 2025

Jacksonville, Florida

Kathleen Salb Mould, age 105, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025 surrounded by family, having lived a long and beautiful life filled with love, faith, and devotion to her family. Born on December 2, 1919, in Washington, D.C., Kathleen was the fourth of five children of John and Marie Salb.

Kathleen attended Holy Name Elementary School and graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy. She went on to complete her studies at Columbus Business College, now part of The Catholic University of America. She began her career working for National Geographic and on Capitol Hill, roles she held with grace and dedication, before stepping away from the professional world to focus on what mattered most to her: raising her family. Later, she continued her quiet legacy of service by working at St. Ambrose Church and School in Cheverly, Maryland.

In July 1941, Kathleen married the love of her life, William E. "Ed" Mould. Together, they built a joyful and faith-filled life in Cheverly, Maryland, where they raised their five children and remained for 47 years. Kathleen was an active member of the St. Ambrose Sodality, the Cana Club, and the St. Ambrose Bowling League. Summers brought her to the Cheverly Pool, where she was one of the original "bridge ladies," holding court at their favorite shaded tables.

In later years, Kathleen and Ed lived in Annapolis and then Silver Spring. Just before her 100th birthday, Kathleen moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where she was lovingly and attentively cared for by her daughter Kathie and son-in-law Jack.

Affectionately known to her family as Mom Mould, Kathleen was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud matriarch of her large family. She treasured Friday night family Happy Hours, holiday gatherings, and any opportunity to spend time surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also loved shopping the sales at Hecht's and Woodies, relaxing at the beach, bowling, and playing cards-especially when she won, which was more often than not!

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; her parents, John and Marie Salb; her siblings Mary Scanlon, Jack Salb, Joe Salb, and Tom Salb; her daughter-in-law, Louise Mould; and her great-grandson, Liam Mroz Mathews.

She is survived by her five children: William Edwin Jr. of Silver Spring, MD; Thomas (Nancy) of St. Augustine, FL; Kathleen Mroz (Jack) of Jacksonville, FL; James (Debbie) of Smith Mountain Lake, VA; and Alice Briese (Byron) of Edisto Beach, SC. She also leaves behind twelve grandchildren: Jeffrey Mould, Nicole Dennis (Tim), Valerie Miller (Jason), Elizabeth Altizer (Matt), Melissa Mroz (Mark), Jonathan Mroz, Julia Mroz, Brieanne Tanner (Brian), James Mould, Shannon Aissen (Kurt), Drew Briese (Rachel), and Maria Briese Conlin (Brandon), as well as 25 great-grandchildren.
