Josie Pearl Austin Schiebler passed away on November 3, 2026. She was born on April 2, 1931, in Choccolocco, Alabama, and moved to the beach in 1969.
Jo enjoyed several different sales positions. She was a cosmetics representative at JC Penney and Furchgott's Department Stores. Later she sold pianos and organs at the family music store. Her love of plants and flowers led to her owning a florist shop, where she was known for her bespoke arrangements. Her ability to listen and empathize made her successful in all her business endeavors.
After retirement, Jo spent her time helping others. Whether gathering donations for AngelAID or planning a Christmas party for an adult daycare, Jo enjoyed making people smile.
She was a member of Beaches Church Women United, Atlantic Beach Garden Circle, Ribault Garden Club, and exercise and yoga classes. Jo was a longtime member of Community Presbyterian Church, where she held many positions from funeral food services to deacon. She enjoyed the fellowship and could always be counted on to bring a big bowl of bean salad to any gathering.
Jo is survived by a son, Bob Austin; daughter, Jeanie Austin; son-in-law, Wayne Longstreth; granddaughter, Reid Brittingham (Andre); great-grandchildren, Ansleigh and Brendan Brittingham; and great-great-granddaughter, Harlyn Brittingham.
She was predeceased by husbands Bill Austin and Ronald Schiebler, and William Trotter; daughter, Judy Longstreth; and grandchildren, Carla and Andy Longstreth.
She was an ardent Alabama Crimson Tide football fan. Roll Tide!
