John Patrick Rowan

John Patrick Rowan, 86, passed away peacefully at his home on April 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on January 12, 1939, in Kildangan, County Kildare, Ireland, John lived for many years in a beautiful home in Mayfield, Monasterevin, with his family before relocating to Jacksonville, Florida, in 1988, where he remained ever since.

John dedicated his life to working with heavy machinery and land clearing, both in Ireland and the U.S., proudly working alongside his son, John Jr. He was an avid runner and a passionate Gaelic footballer, proudly playing for Ballykelly, his local club in Ireland. He also enjoyed golfing in both Cil Dara and Jacksonville, winning many a tournament throughout his years. In more recent years, you would find him fishing at the pier or walking the mall for his exercise. John was well known for his love of music, his beautiful singing voice, and the joy he brought to Sunday gatherings at the pub with friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Margaret; his sons, Michael (Lorraine) and Fintan (Tasha); his daughters, Suzanne (Lucio), Geraldine (Rodney), and Linda (Casey); and his cherished grandchildren: Alycia (Patrick), Robert, Sean, Ethan, Alannah, Saoirse, Kyle, Conleth, Tadhg, Finlay, Dara, Loughlan, and Ronan. He is also survived by his sister, Bridie. John was predeceased by his son, John Jr.
