Jeanne Marie Gibbs

Jeanne M. Gibbs passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 30, at the age of 97.  

Mom is now reunited with her beloved husband of 56 years, John R. Gibbs who died in December, 2004.  She will be greatly missed by her 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, as well as an ‘adopted son, Kosty, and his family.  

After spending the first 32 years of her life in the U.S., she spent the next 19 years supporting Dad in many overseas assignments.  Mom encouraged us all to embrace and experience the culture of each country in which we lived - Norway, Sweden, Greece, Libya, The Netherlands, and Aruba. 

Mom will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends for her keen sense of purpose, sense of humor, and boundless energy.  She was always ‘in motion’ and ready for any adventure.  In 1978, she and her husband retired to northeast Florida, Amelia Island and then Cypress Village in Jacksonville.  There, she devoted much of her time to planning family reunions and gatherings, helping her husband build many homes, and volunteering wherever help was needed.   

Our lives and the lives of everyone who knew her are better because of her; Mom always made sure that memories were made and that there were stories to share.  Her family wishes that her wonderful, enchanted life be celebrated!
