Jay D. Huskey

Jay was born in Phelps County, Missouri, and resided in Jacksonville, Florida. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mamie Rowena Guffey; his father, Jay Huskey; and his beloved siblings, Alice Mae Faulkner, Claude Junior Huskey, Mary Lou Tate, and Edward Lee Huskey.

He is survived by his three children: daughter Chelsea Nichols (Jamie), and sons Jay Huskey and Gary Huskey. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Rylie Nichols, Jonah Nichols, Emery Nichols, Jacob Huskey (Lyndsey), Josh Huskey, Ethan Huskey (Tiffany), and Jared Huskey (Megan); as well as three great-grandchildren: Charlie Huskey, Malcolm Huskey, and Connor Huskey. He is further survived by his brother, Thomas Campbell (Christy), along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

Jay lived life loudly, boldly, and unapologetically. A proud United States Navy Veteran and die-hard Gator fan, he traveled the world following the music wherever it led him and never met a stranger along the way. He was the life of the party, the story everyone remembered, and the ultimate bucket list wrapped into one unforgettable man.

Rarely seen without his styrofoam cup and permanent orange lip from his signature Tang and vodka, Jay believed life was meant to be lived to the fullest. Behind that tough exterior was a heart of gold too big to be contained. He loved hard, laughed loud, and lived for every single moment.

Above all else, he worshipped the ground his grandchildren walked on. Pride filled every ounce of him with each of their accomplishments. He treasured every moment spent with family and friends, kept endless photographs, and never passed up the chance to take a good selfie.

Jay was truly one of a kind — a legend in every sense of the word — and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
