James Douglas Connell, IV (Jay Connell) passed away May 12, 2026, in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. He grew up in Seaford, Delaware and relocated to Florida in 2023 where he was employed with KC Squared Home Improvements LLC and G&K Construction of America as project manager.
Born in Richmond, Virginia, he relocated to Seaford, Delaware in 1982, with his family. Jay attended Seaford schools and Saints Peter and Paul High School in Easton, Maryland. He also attended and graduated from Delaware Technical Community College, Georgetown, Delaware.
Jay had many friends and acquaintances and was well liked by his peers. He was a proficient golfer, and his waterman skills were well known when it came to fishing. He was known for his innate artistic ability having won many ribbons for his artwork. As a young man, he was active in Boy Scouts of America and received recognition in the Order of the Arrow (OA) a national honor society in scouting. He was also known as one of the biggest fans of the NFL NY Giants.
Jay is survived by his loving mother, Sandra A. Connell-Jaeger (Roy); his sisters, Tara L. Ward, (Kira Ward, Chase Ward) his sister, Kimberly D. Evans (Kris); daughters, Victoria L. Connell and Sarah F. Connell; nephews, Logan Roberts (Meagan) and Chase Ward and great- nephew Grayson James Roberts; nieces, Kira Ward, Madison Roberts and great-niece, Chloe Roberts. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Nancy Brownlee & Philip Portantino of Easton, Pa., Dr. Judith Connell & William Connell of Williamsburg, Va., & Rosemary Mann of Ponte Vedra Beach and many other cousins throughout the east coast. He was predeceased by his father, James Douglas Connell, Jr. (Doug Connell) in 2019.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on May 22, 2026, in Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 545 AIA N. Ponte Vedra Beach, FL with Reverend Charles Bemis as celebrant.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life for Jay on a later date.
