Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. - J. Dale Miller, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., passed away Jan. 20, 2014.

He was born March 3, 1948, in Arlington, Va., to the late John and Edith Miller. He attended Bridgewater College and received his master's degree from Virginia Tech. He worked as a fisheries biologist at Millstone Nuclear Power Station in Waterford, for 20 years. He moved to Florida in 2003, and was the technology manager of Loss Technologies Services, a division of SkyeTec.

Dale and his wife, Sharon Miller, raised their children in Ledyard. Along with his wife, he leaves behind his three daughters and a son, Amy Silvester and husband, RJ Silvester, and their daughters, Madeline and Emily Silvester, Carrie Miller and fiancA�AC., Jamie Todhunter, Bethany Miller and fiancA�AC., Jason Paul, and Christopher Miller. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Jeanette Miller; sister, Patricia Shultzaberger; sister-in-law, Joan Dolbear; and nine nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, James Shultzaberger.

He enjoyed woodworking, traveling to historical landmarks, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 and 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, in Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home of Jacksonville Beach, Fla. A memorial service is planned in Ledyard, at a later date to be determined.
