Ida "Pat" Bergmann- House

January 4, 1928 — March 31, 2022

Ida ‘Pat’ C. Bergmann-House, 94, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022. Pat was born January 4, 1928, in Cordele GA and was raised in Arabi, GA. As a young adult, she moved to Jacksonville FL where she attended Jacksonville Business College (now Jacksonville University).

Pat was an active member of the Jacksonville Garden Club, the Jacksonville Woman’s Club and held a position on the board of the Florida Federation of Woman’s Clubs. Her participation in the Woman’s Club provided her the opportunity to make a positive impact in so many lives through spearheaded projects such as the ‘OffALot’ Energy Conservation program created for elementary school children. Pat worked with the Governor’s Energy Office while living in Tallahassee FL and travelled the state delivering the ‘OffALot’ educational materials to elementary schools. One of her favorite projects was working with the Hacienda Girls Ranch in Melbourne FL. When Pat settled in Fernandina Beach, she once again became active with the local Woman’s Club to lead the project of creating a beautiful butterfly garden next to the elementary school. In addition to the time spent with the Woman’s Clubs, Pat always found time to enjoy visiting with her family and many friends.  Pat enjoyed her family and friends, her telephone (conference calling with her sisters), her car (she always was on the go), farmers markets or roadside stands (her trunk would be full with plenty to share), travelling through Europe and shopping trips in search of a good sale.

Pat is survived by her son, Charles (Kay) Bergmann; daughters Patricia (Steve) Engelman, Nanci Bergmann; grandson, Chris (Morgan) Engelman; sisters Evelyn (Jim) Reeves and Dr. Marie Shafe; brothers Rev. John (Faye) Cross, James (Margaret) Cross and Fred (Wendy) Cross; and many nieces and nephews. Pat is predeceased by spouses Charles E Bergmann Sr., and Ralph House; mother, Minnie Lou Cross; father, Otis W. Cross; brothers Clarence (Geraldine) Cross, Floyd (Patti) Cross; sisters Frances Denham Cooley, Betty (Jerry) Pope, Ruth (Larry) Warner, Louise Canady and Reba Quinones.
