George Ross was born in Guthrie, OK on May 5, 1947 to Alberta and Lehman Ross. He passed away in Jacksonville, FL on January 14, 2024 at the age of 76.
George attended Westminster College where he met his wife, Jeri. He graduated from the University of Maryland and earned his MBA from Seton Hall University. George’s career in Information Systems Management took him from NJ to TX and finally to Jacksonville FL where he worked for Florida Rock Industries for 25 years. He spent his retirement traveling with his wife all over the world and planning special trips with his five grandchildren.
George was a founding member of the Hodges Blvd Presbyterian Church where he served on Session as an Elder and the President of the Church Corporation. George led many church committees over the years, participated in mission trips and regularly served at Mission House. His leadership continued into the local community by serving as a board member of the Girls Scouts and was honored as a member of Leadership Jax, Class of 1996. George believed in being a servant of God and loved his family and church family. He will be remembered for his quick wit, his friendly demeanor, love of ice cream and his contagious smile.
George is survived by his loving wife of almost 55 years, Jeri; son, Darren (Kimberly) and daughter, Becky (Trevor); grandchildren, Tyler, Katie, Victoria, Jackson and Annabelle. He was predeceased by his brothers, Bruce and David.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday February 10, 2024 at Hodges Boulevard Presbyterian Church. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Garden Fund at Hodges Blvd Presbyterian Church.
