George (Ron)ald Gentry, 71, passed away June 8, 2023. He was born May 23, 1952, in Charleston, SC. He grew up in Charleston and retired in Jacksonville, FL in 2014. 

George served his country in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sargent for 3 years and then went to work for the Department of Defense Navy as a Ship Surveyor at Charleston Naval Shipyards before relocating to Jacksonville and working for Mayport Naval Base. He enjoyed his volunteer work as Youth Baseball Director in Charleston for a number of years. He also enjoyed his time playing golf with friends and family.

George is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Frances Crenshaw Gentry and his son, Derek James Gentry. He is also survived by his sister, Patsy Lottie Brazel (Wallace) and his brother, Jasper Milton Gentry, Jr. (Michele). Both are from the Charleston area. He was predeceased by two brothers, John Thorton Gentry and Don Herman Gentry. Both from Holly Hill, SC.  Also 5 nephews and 1 niece.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home, 3600 Third Street South, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250. There will not be a graveside service.
