Frederick Ralph Armbruster

Frederick Ralph Armbruster, age 89, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 20,2025 on Easter Sunday and on his Mother’s Birthday. He was born in Marian, Ohio to Lawrence Raymond Armbruster and Virginia Sherwood Armbruster on December 2,1935. He was an only child growing up in Columbus, Ohio and later in Jacksonville Beach, FL. He moved to Jacksonville, Florida making it his permanent home in July 1960.

Fred graduated from Fletcher High School in Jacksonville Beach, FL and earned his degree in Optometry at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He served in the Army of the United States as a Captain in the Medical Service Corps. Fred loved the outdoors where he enjoyed playing tennis, hiking, biking, walking, sailing, white water rafting, and gardening. He loved all sports but was a huge Ohio State Buckeye Fan and Alumni.

Fred, also known as Dad, Papa Fred, Freddy, Friend, and Doctor, is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Ann Sherk (Carl) and Mary Virginia Franks (Greg), his grandchildren, Katie, Sarah, Charlotte, John, Joshua, Ashley (Rich), Alex (Katie), Amanda (Tyler), and his great grandchildren, Ricky, and Brynn. He was predeceased by his son, Joseph Raymond Armbruster.

A private family gathering was held on Saturday, May 3rd. Donations can be made in his honor to The American National Red Cross.
