Faye Ervin

Faye Cameron Ervin was born in Jacksonville, to Frederick and Belvalene Cameron in St. Vincent"s Hospital May 9, 1949. Her earthly time expired on Oct. 18, 2013, in her home with her loving husband, Lee, by her side.

Faye graduated from Terry Parker High School in the Class of "67. She graduated from Georgia Southern College in 1971 with a bachelor of science degree in home economics. After graduation, she was a teller at the downtown Barnett Bank. In 1973, she accepted employment with Winn-Dixie as executive secretary at their corporate office. She started her career as a teacher in 1978 for St. Johns County (Hastings High School), then transferred to Allen D. Nease High School when it opened in 1981, from which she retired in 2011, after 30 years of service there.

Faye"s health problems began in 2009. After consulting with six medical specialists, she was finally diagnosed with stage 4 carcinoid cancer. She fought long and hard and enjoyed life until the end.

She is survived by her loving mother, Bev Cameron; sister, Frieda Cameron Aubin (Leo); daughter, Amy Duncan Shearer (Dave); son, Cameron Duncan (Michelle); stepson, Alston; five grandchildren: Kelly, Jeremiah, Allison, Brooke and Brighton; and lifelong friend, Pam Smith.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Quinn-Shalz Chapel.
