Reverend Eugene Strickland passed away July 31, 2023, in Jacksonville, Fl. He was born in Suffolk, Virginia on October 10, 1944 to John Henry and Gertie Strickland.

Eugene was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who entered the Church Triumphant peacefully on July 31, 2023. He attended Holmes Theological Seminary in South Carolina before pursuing a career in pastoral ministry. Throughout his life, Eugene served as a minister in various locations including Virginia, West Virginia, Alaska, and Florida.

In 1999, while serving in Alaska with his wife Nancy, Eugene and Nancy founded Families Reaching Out Ministries (F.R.O.M.). Their mission was to share God's love with those who may not have heard the Good News. They dedicated their time to providing faith-based support and comfort to Native Alaskans in remote villages. Eugene and Nancy expanded their outreach to the Tohono O’odham Nation Reservation in Arizona, where they organized teams to teach Vacation Bible School to the children during the summers.

Eugene's work also took him to South Africa, India, Sudan, and Haiti where he spread God's word and touched many lives. Known for his charisma and leadership qualities, Eugene will be deeply missed by his family and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Eugene is survived by: his loving wife of 31 years, Nancy Strickland; children: Mike Strickland (Melodie), Rhonda Strickland, Robin Webb (Aaron), Tom Strickland, Tarey Strickland, Carey Strickland (Lee); nine  grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and brothers, Algene Strickland and Gene Strickland (Renee).
