Ernest Paul Maier

Ernie Paul Maier passed away on March 28, 2024, in Jacksonville, FL at the age of 84, due to heart disease and complications from Parkinson’s Disease. He was the eldest son of Herman and Cecilia Maier of Ellsworth, Wisconsin. Ernie held a BA in psychology from Northeastern University and an MBA from Boston College. He enjoyed a 35-year career with 3M Company, beginning as a sales representative. He lived in Brussels for four years, involved in marketing for 16 countries for the Abrasives Division and traveling extensively. He retired as an International Marketing Director. 

 He was married for almost 60 years to the former Susan Feist, whom he met in Cincinnati early in his sales career. He was the father of Paula, Pat and Kathryn, and the grandfather of three. He was the brother of Jerome, Francis, Norm, Joann, Terry, and Mary and Rita (deceased). Ernie traveled the world with Susan and enjoyed many happy hours sailing on the Mississippi out of Lake Pepin, and skiing in Europe and the US. He loved attending plays in London’s West End. He was a strong proponent of education, had a beautiful singing voice and was known for his great sense of humor. 

 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 4, at 11AM at St. Bridget Church, 211 E Division Street, River Falls, WI with visitation starting at 10AM. A private interment will be held at St. Mary's Big River in River Falls.
