Elizabeth (Betty) Dayton, 83, passed away May 20, 2022. She was born November 29, 1938, in Quincy, MA. She grew up in a military family and lived in California, China, Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida. Betty has been a resident of Ponte Vedra Beach since 2000.
Betty graduated from the University of Florida in 1960 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She then taught Music, and later worked for Bellsouth. Betty ended her career after two decades of substitute teaching at the age of 80. She was also a long-time member of the Sawgrass Players Club Women’s Association, serving as the President for two consecutive terms. More than anything, Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Beth (Walt) Holbrook and Ellen Petrous; sons, Ed (Michelle) and Erik (Tracy); 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Her husband of 38 years, Ed, predeceased her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 11, 2022, in Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church with Reverend Eric Stelzer as Celebrant. In lieu of flowers please donate to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
